Winter Weather

The winter weather snaps like a quilt,
Outside on the clothesline.
Wind pops like the sound ,
Of acorns hitting
The dead-leaf covered ground.
Green is gone.
Black and gray are the colors of winter.
God sends the quiet cover of this season,
The busy-ness of summer gone,
The work of growth, to come in the spring.
Rest, sweet rest....
Creation of earth,
And Christ will work anew.
